Found an interesting post on Cut Out + Keep blog.  It is about fabric painting, or more specifically transferring an image from a plain paper laser printout to fabric.  I think I'll have to give it a try.  This could be the way I put text on a t-shirt without having to deal with yucky transfer paper.  I'll post details when I try it out.
