Last night I had some free time on my hands so I decided to get crafty. Earlier that morning, I was hit by inspiration in the shower for a coaster design. No, not that "oh my god why the hell did I decide to get on this thing we're all going to die" coaster. But the "don't you dare put that glass on my priceless Ikea table" coaster.
I think I was inspired by some coasters my aunt made for my mother years ago. I just have a vague picture of them in my mind. But it was enough to get me going. I sketched out a few things in my handy idea book (that's what I'm calling my first attempt at book binding), did a little math and then got started.
The design is basically overlapping strips of fabric forming a grid. Very basic, but more interesting than just a one fabric front. I'm very happy with the finished product. I'm planning to make a couple of more for my office. When I do it this time, I'll be taking pics all along the way. I'm planning to make this my first how-to for the sight. Woohoo! Aren't you just all a-flutter with excitement? You damn well better be!
So keep your eyes posted the next few days for my first how-to.
