What I'm Listening To

February Inspiration PDF Print E-mail

I let January get away from me without doing an Inspiration post. I'm not going to let February slip by. This time around I have a couple of great recipes I discovered in the blogosphere that I can't wait to try and something to spice up my couch.

Homemade Biscuits

I love bread - it is one of my great weaknesses. My husband finds it strange that I can pull off a hunk of french bread and eat it plain as a snack. But I think is perfectly normal. He is the weird one for not wanting to do it :) Since I'm a bread-aholic, I'm always on the lookout for simple recipes I can do myself. I've recently been looking for a simple biscuit recipe that I can make on weekend mornings. Well, Homesick Texan may have just the ticket! I stumbled across her biscuit recipe a few days back and I immediately liked how it combined butter and buttermilk (or cream). I've tried heavy cream based biscuit recipes in the past. They are great as a topper to a pot pie, but lacking on their own. I think the addition of the butter will be the perfect trick. I'm hoping to try out Homesick Texan's recipe this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

Dot Pillow

As soon as I saw Still Dottie's dot pillows, I fell in love. I love the simplicity of the style, the colors she chose, and the way the colors change within the dot. These pillows look very easy to make. The basic shell would be a quick sew. I'm sure it would take a little time to create all those little french knots, but the process looks simple. I could see two of these pillows being the perfect accent for our couch. One more project to add to my list. That list is getting very long.

Nutella Ice Cream

If you read the "About" page on this site, you know I love Nutella. I try not to buy it often because I will just gobble it down in a few days. But once the weather warms up, I think I'll be purchasing a jar just so I can try out Chocolate & Zucchini's Nutella Ice Cream recipe. With only two ingredients it has to be a snap to make. I'm interested to see what the consistency will be like since it is made with evaporated milk. I've only made ice cream with heavy cream. If this turns out as wonderful as it sounds, this could lead down a road of experimenting with other ice cream flavors using evaporated milk.
