I've been busy the past couple of weeks preparing for Christmas. All the Christmas shopping is done and the gifts are wrapped. I'm now working on making a number of gifts. I knew I couldn't make all my gifts this year (I didn't plan far enough in advance), but I wanted to be able to make a few of them. I'll post more on my gift making after the holidays (don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone). For now, the blogosphere has provided some great ideas for future gifts or general projects.
Rice Therapy Bag
SewMamaSew did a series of therapy bags. My favorite was the rice therapy bag. A simple pouch for holding rice. You microwave it and then you have a heat pad for sore muscles. She also did a version with buckwheat that is for the freezer. I especially love the fabrics she chose. They blend very well but aren't matchy-matchy. Not only are they very pretty, but also very functional!
Hooded Towel
SkipToMyLou crated a hooded towel for her child. My sister got one of these at her baby shower. I always thought it was a wonderful gift idea. And it appears to be a simple project. The best part about it is all the embellishment opportunities! There are all sorts of things you can do. Little ears up top out of towel scraps. Perhaps a ribbon edge. An appliquéd duck or other design on the main towel part. It could be a lot of fun.
Accordian Envelope
This looks like a great project for a scrapbook. I haven't gotten into scrapbooking yet, but I could think of other uses for this. A great way to store old, sentimental cards you've received from someone. Or for sending pictures to family through the mail. Hmm, you could even make an advent calendar like this.
