So far, I haven't mentioned the fact that my husband and I are going through the adoption process. Well, we are and have been for awhile now. It is definitely not a short process, but the end result will be well worth it. Anyway, I thought I would post a brief update on where we are at.
We decided to do an open adoption through the Independent Adoption Center. I have been entirely happy with our work with them so far. Their people are so helpful, generous, kind, understanding, knowledgeable, and all around great! They make the process seem natural and calm. Right now we have completed our home study, filled out all the forms, finished our FBI background check, and are only waiting on the completion of our birthmother letter. We sent off our second draft of the birthmother letter last week and are hoping to get feedback this week. Of course I'm hoping they say "It's great! Don't touch it. Print off the 100 copies and send it in". We'll see how it goes.
In the meantime, the husband and I have completed our online website for birthmothers to find us. It is ianandbobby.com. Not so surprisingly, in this digital age, many birthmothers find adoptive parents on the web. So we've put our site and have started to put the word out. Please share this site with anyone you think might be interested and feel free to link to us. The more links we get, the more likely we are to show up in search results on Google and Yahoo.
As time goes by, I'll try to remember to keep you updated on our progress. And of course, once we do adopt, I'll be posting all the great baby projects I create - knitted booties, receiving blankets, hooded bath towels, diaper bag, crib sets.....oh the list is endless, I better start soon!
