The padding on the arms of my office chair started to flatten and I could feel the staples underneath. Every time I set my arm down with any pressure, I'd get pricked. It didn't take long for me to have enough of that, so off I went tearing my chair apart. And the results turned out better than I would have expected.
I was originally only planning on replacing the padding in the arms. But as I sat on the floor pulling out staples to remove the original fabric, I looked over at a stack of fabric my mother-in-law had given me. It was beautiful fabric in blue hues which I love. I had been unable to think of what I wanted to do with it. You know that fear where you don't want to make the first cut because you are afraid you'll end up making a horrible mistake and be left with only scraps of the once beautiful fabric. So instead of using the fabric and getting to enjoy it, it sits in a pile unused and unloved. Looking at the ugly gray fabric I was ripping from my office chair and the beautiful fabric from my mother-in-law, I suddenly moved past that fear. Thirty minutes later, I not only replaced the padding in my chair arms, but I had recovered the whole chair in an eye-catching blue-green fabric. So quick and easy. Why hadn't I thought of that months ago?
