I hate when I'm cooking, my hands are dirty, and I turn to the cookbook to check the next step only to find the pages have flipped. I don't want to use my hands to flip it back because I'll get the book dirty. But it is a pain to wash my hands just to flip a page. Well, I came up with a simple solution.
I'm sure someone out there has already come up with this before. But it was an original idea for me so I'm proud of it. It is a long, narrow bean bag. Simple and well suited to the job. You can lay it across the two pages or in in the spine. It holds the book open no matter how windy your kitchen gets. And let's face it, with people going by, doors opening and closing, there is a bit of wind to turn the pages of your cookbook.
The steps to making this are easy. Cut a long, narrow piece of fabric. You pick the dimensions. Fold in half with right sides together and sew up one short side and the long side. Turn inside out and fill with rice, beans, rocks, whatever you have. Fold under the edges of the open end and topstitch to close. Literally a 10 minute project.
