I love chicken wings! I love going to a place like Wing Stop or WingsNMore and getting a variety of flavors. They are all so yummy. Of course, it wasn't long before I started wondering how easy it would be for me to make my own. Turns out, it is very easy!
Here are 3 great wing recipes - cajun, lemon pepper, and asian peanut. I like to make a couple of them at a time so we have a selection of flavors. It could even be fun to make all 3 and have a wing party.
The preparation of the chicken for each recipe is the same. While the chicken is cooking, prepare your sauce(s). When the wings are finished, toss them in the sauce(s), and you are done! Each sauce recipe makes enough for 10-12 wings.
Wing Prep
- 10 chicken wings
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
Place your oven rack in the upper third of the oven. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees. Half the wings at the joint to make little wing pieces. I remove the wing tips as well, but you can keep them on if you like. Toss the wings in the vegetable oil and place on a baking sheet with skin side up. Roast in wings in the oven for 25 minutes.
Turn wings over and put back in the oven for 10-15 minutes until crisp and brown. Toss wings in sauce (recipes follow).
Cajun Sauce
- 1/2 cup Frank's Hot Sauce (or your preferred hot sauce)
- 2 Tbsp Tony Chachere's seasoning
Mix hot sauce and seasoning in a bowl. Toss wings in sauce and serve.
Lemon Pepper Sauce
- Zest of 2 lemons
- Juice of 4 lemons
- 2 tsp of cracked black pepper
- 2 tsp of garlic salt
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Toss wings in sauce and serve.
Asian Peanut Sauce
- 1 1/2 Tbsp grated ginger
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 2 Tbsp peanut butter
- 1 Tbsp lime juice
- 1 1/2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp salt
Whisk together all the ingredients in a bowl until well blended. Toss wings in sauce and serve.
Serving Suggestions
- Carrots and celery. It adds something healthy to the mix.
- Ranch or blue cheese dressing. These can help cut the heat in the cajun wings.
- French fries. They are great for soaking up the extra sauce in the bottom of the bowl.
