I prefer ground turkey to ground beef when I cook. It is much healthier and in most dishes, you can't taste the difference. In so many dishes where you use ground meat, so much seasoning is added that the meat becomes more of a filler than the main flavor component. So turkey is my ground meat of choice.
One problem most people have with ground turkey is that it is more dry than ground beef. This is very obvious when you make burgers from ground turkey. If you just form the meat into a patty and throw it on the grill, it turns out dry and tasteless. But with a few additions, you can make flavorful turkey burgers that are as moist as a snack cake!
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground turkey
- 1 Tbsp coarsely ground pepper
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Pickapeppa sauce (or A1 if you can't find Pickapeppa)
Directions
Put all ingredients into a bowl and mix by hand. Mixing by hand keeps from packing your meat and you end up with a juicier burger. Form mixture into patties - whatever size you like. Grill patties as you would a beef burger. Enjoy!
BTW, the name, "Moist as a Snack Cake" Turkey Burger, is a reference to one of my favorite TV shows - Strangers With Candy. It is a line from the show that I will never forget. I thought it made for an appropriate title.....in more ways than one ;)
